Chinese Is An Important Subject Best Learned Young
Although English is the language of instruction in Singapore schools,
Mother Tongue is still a compulsory subject at the:
- Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE),
- Singapore-Cambridge GCE Ordinary Level ('O' Level) and;
- Singapore-Cambridge GCE Advanced Level ('A' Level).

Frequently Asked Questions
Is my child ready for this programme? / Which level or class can my child join?
English Champ provides assessments where your child can attempt the questions themselves. Thereafter, they will be able to advise a suitable level for your child. A schedule with the available time slots will also be provided to you.
If your child is not ready for the program, English Champ has another program, Little Champ, that builds your child’s foundation in reading and writing. The modules are progressive and it ensures that your child has the basic skills to advance.
Does English Champ provide online or face-to-face classes?
English Champ provides both, online and face-to-face classes. Both have their pros and cons. You will need to select one for your child so that there is consistency in your child’s learning. However, if your child is unable to make it or is unwell, or has family members who tested positive for Covid-19, please inform us and we will allow your child to switch to online classes until all is well again in the household.
How do we determine which class the child will be in?
There are four levels – beginner, elementary, lower intermediate, and upper-intermediate. We provide complimentary assessments for your child. Thereafter, we will provide our feedback on your child’s strengths and areas for improvement. We will discuss with you in your direction and align with you based on your child’s assessment results. Thereafter, we will propose a suitable class for your child to join.
How fast can I see the results ?
Even if your child is the same age as another child, no two children will be generating the same writing. Each child progresses from the quality of work he/ she produces and through the understanding of the topics discussed in class. Writing needs practice. Through consistent work, participation in class, and interest, your child will definitely progress and be able to write using proper writing techniques, expand his/ her vocabulary and enhance their creative writing skills.
